Don’t be fooled by its bulky and aggressive profile. The 2020 Bentley Bentayga Speed means business. It recently dethroned the Lamboghini Urus as the world’s fastest SUV.
The new Bentley Bentayga Speed has been developed for those who demand luxury without compromise.
The ‘Speed’ isn’t just any standard Bentley Bentayga (which aren’t exactly slow). The new Bentley Bentayga Speed currently holds the title of the world’s fastest production SUV. A title it took back after hitting an official 306km/h top speed, 1km/h faster than its much lighter cousin, the Lamborghini Urus.
Interestingly, it’s a title Bentley had already held shortly after its release in 2016 when it took its standard W12 up to 301km/h at Nardo.
A year later, Lamborghini arrived with the Urus and not to be outdone, took the record away from the Bentley when the Urus hit 305km/h.
Talk about family rivalry, which will no doubt get even more heated given the nature of the twin-turbocharged battle.
Interestingly, the Lamborghini Urus is faster from 0–100km/h, taking just 3.6 seconds compared with the Bentayga Speed’s 3.9 seconds.
Designed, engineered and handcrafted in the United Kingdon, the Bentley builds on the tradition of Speed models dating back to the Continental GT in 2007.
Compared to the standard Bentley Bentayga, the high-performance Speed model features visible enhancements both inside and out.
Along with a new fine-tuned exhaust and suspension, its huge 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine generates an impressive 460 kilowatts and 900Nm of torque.
New 22-inch alloy wheels, black radiator, revised headlights, dark bumper grill, and a sleek rear spoiler hint at the SUV’s special edition nomenclature.
Meanwhile, its stunning interior features metallic ‘Speed’ signature badging, truly breathtaking Alcantara materials, and contrast stitching on the handcrafted, diamond-quilted leather upholstery.
To take the world-class SUV to the next level, you can personalise your Bentayga Speed to suit your individual needs – anything from the wheel finish to interior stitching.
The Speed’s optional extras include carbon fibre fascia panels, mood lighting, 22-way adjustable front seating with massage, rear-seat entertainment system, and carbon ceramic brakes that are the largest and most powerful ever fitted to a Bentley. These brakes help reduce the Bentayga Speed’s weight by more than 20 kilograms over iron brakes.
Whilst driving you can select four on-road Drive Dynamics modes: Comfort, Bentley, Sport, and Custom. Like the best-selling Bentaygas before it, this model can also be specified as a four- or five-seat.
The Bentayga Speed starts at approximately US$200,000. Visit your loacl Bentley dealer here
